Built-in Dictation in VS Code: Code at the Speed of Thought

VS Code now has built-in voice dictation powered by a locally-run speech-to-text model via Microsoft Foundry Local. The feature works across the chat panel, inline editor, terminal, and agents window. Users can start dictation via a button or the Ctrl+I shortcut, select their microphone, configure key bindings, and enable LLM cleanup in settings. The VS Code Speech extension is no longer needed as this functionality is now native.
